When I became aware of my calling to art, a whole universe opened up to me; I realised that we are all small worlds, each of us a small universe of our own. And often, for various reasons, our personal universe remains trapped within ourselves. Until the moment – the “big bang” – comes that drives us to discover the wealth of ideas, thoughts and feelings that exist in our inner universe and share them with the outside world. Shortly after completing this painting, my inner universe was no longer captive.
