Early in the morning, with not a soul in sight on Orla 500 beach in Cabo Frio, in the state of Rio de Janeiro – just the calm sea with its gentle waves, the fresh breeze of the Brazilian winter, and me with my watercolours and sketchpad. In Brazil, winter temperatures can reach summer-like levels on some days, so it is often possible to enjoy a dip in the sea.
