Blessing

39.3 x 31.5 inch, oil on canvas

The disturbing news we hear, see and read every day about national and international politics, the challenges of everyday life that occupy us moderately or intensely may weigh on our minds, causing us to lose hope for better days in between. But then, when we sit on the balcony, on a park bench or in the garden and look up at the sky and see the clouds slowly drifting by, illuminated by the sun in the endless blue sky, we realize how beautiful and full of poetry our world is. It is then easier for us to think of the good news about empathy and humanity and the small everyday gestures that bring a smile to our faces. When this happens, we feel the blessing that allows us to forget the big and small problems of everyday life and the world for a “brief eternity”. With this in mind, I painted this picture and my picture wants to remind me and its viewers to look at the clouds in the sky more often.
