THE LAMENT OF THE AMAZON

Civilised man came

and left his mark

on the ground, in the air, in the water.

He mortally wounded the indigenous people

and stained red

the green of nature

Civilised man came,

urinated and spat in the river,

cut down the thousand-year-old trees,

robbing the birds of their shelter,

and he set fire to the jungle

and the fire devoured life

and left behind a black void,

so black and oppressive…

Fly, macaw, fly, toucan,

civilised man is coming back!

Flee, monkey, run away, leopard,

civilised man is coming!

Fly, flee, run! …

But… where to?

Where to?
