Ales Stenar, Swedish for ‘old stones’, is a Druidic site in southern Sweden where, similar to Stonehenge in England, large monoliths are arranged in a long, open circle to form an open-air temple. However, this picture shows the view of the sea from the plateau. It was a windy day when I sat there with my painting supplies, and the wind contributed to this artwork by mixing sand it carried through the air into the oil paint…
