A scene from married life in the jungle: a toucan sits on the branch of a mighty, tall, centuries-old tree and waits. At times he pecks a berry from a neighbouring tree with his enormous beak; at others he snaps at a fly buzzing round his head; at others still he gazes up at the vast sky… Then, at last, his partner arrives, and there is no ‘hello’ – instead, the only question that comes out of that enormous beak is: ‘Where on earth have you been all day?!?!?’ The answer had better be convincing…
