The year 2020 marked a radical turning point in the lives of many people around the world – an unbearable period of deprivation and restrictions that seemed almost endless to everyone, and during which social interaction in particular suffered greatly. We, as cultural and artistic practitioners, suffered heavily; yet, on the other hand, we found – out of necessity – time for reflection, and creativity has also found new ways to flourish. My small painting is an expression of my hope and confidence that, after every dark period, light will shine brightly once more, bringing with it a new beginning.
